Teeth Whitening?

i have my cousin who suffer from low calcium and therefore she has yellow teeths although she brush daily, i wanted to buy her a teeth whitening kit and went online to search but i found many companies offering gels and other things and all claim to be the best so i dont really know what should i get





does anyone have any knowledge about it

I wouldn%26#039;t buy a tooth whitening kit from the Internet for the simple fact you really dont know what your getting despite what the company claims.


I%26#039;ve seen patients who have bought via the net and what was supposed to be 10% Hydrogen Peroxide turns out to be a lot higher and has caused severe pain and sensitivity.


In my humble opinion the best way to whiten the teeth is to visit the dentist, sure it may work out more expensive, but at least you have a professional who is there to advise and make sure the treatment is actually working effectivley and that the patient would be compatable for whitening in the first place, it would be no good for your cousin if she had any crowns/false teeth as only natural teeth can be whitened.

Reply:I think that one of the problems with teeth for people with low calcium is that the teeth are more porous - thus allowing them to discolour more easily.


If I%26#039;ve got the right condition (thinking back to a friend I had at school) you have to be very careful what sort of chemicals etc. you expose to teeth in that condition as the bleaching effects could cause more damage and actually be worse for the teeth.


It would be a good idea to seek the advice of a dentist really - just ring your own dentist and tell them what you are thinking of doing - I%26#039;m sure they will be able to help.

Reply:all the over the counter kits you can buy only work to an extent. the most effective results would be to have her teeth whitened professionally. there are a number of different ways to have this done but laser treatment is the least painful, however would cost a few hundred. if she has that done people will need to wear sunglasses when she smiles :)

you need to check the amount of active ingreadiant,,CARBANADE PEROXIDE.


In the UK you can only purchase a very low dose of this in shops like boots asda etc.


Go to ebay and check out products with 22% or 35 % Carbonade peroxide,they come with easy to follow intructions.
